Painting is my other language.  Whether I use a brush, a pencil, pastels, or just envision the colors in my mind, I speak with the tongue of images.

After a painting is finished, I want to live with it for a while.  If it is sold before this getting acquainted period, I feel as though I've lost something before it was truly alive.  But once we've lived together for a time, I enjoy seeing my paintings go out to live with other people.....

Though Ann began painting in oils many years ago, watercolors became part of her life after returning from many years overseas.  She was looking for a different approach, a new medium to capture the beauties of her home country.  By the time she moved to the Davis Mountains, in Texas, watercolors were her first love.

  In time, pastels became a natural adjunct to watercolors and have now become her newest and most exciting medium. 

"Colors are very important to me.  Sometimes I can only reach what I'm seeing in my soul with the pure pigment of pastels.  At other times, the transparency of watercolors is required to express what I'm after."

Lately, acrylics have become another, occasional medium.  Like oils, they are exciting for palette knife.  Pen and ink, charcoal, watercolor pencil, monotype, batik, and lino prints are other forms of expression for this Far West Texas artist.  The truth is, joy is what motivates Ann's art. 

Blessed with many travel opportunities throughout her years in the Middle East, and recent trips to Mexico and France, she delights in bringing to life on paper, canvas or clayboard the varied sights, sounds, textures, and artistic essences experienced around the globe.

Ann and Robert live on the side of Arabella Mountain, outside Fort Davis, where she has her studio.  The studio is open by appointment.
